Vaccines

Endectocides
Cydectin® does contain as active ingredient moxidectin.
Moxidectin is a second generation macrocyclic lactone parasiticide of the milbemycin family which
differentiates the molecule from the avermectins. Cydectin® is effective in
the treatment and control of wide range of internal (adult and fourth-stage larvae (L4)) and
external parasites of cattle: Gastrointestinal Roundworms (including inhibited larvae of
Ostertagia ostertagi), Lungworms, Warbles, Mites, Lice, Horn Flies (pour-on only).
The Cydectin® range for cattle consists of various formulations
as Cydectin® Pour-On, Cydectin® 1% Injectable solution and Cydectin® 10% Long acting
injectable solution. All formulations do have a high potency and a long persistency period.
Cydectin® products are dung beetle and rain worm friendly.
Ectoparasiticides
Dysect/Renegade 1.5% pour-on contains alphacypermethrin for use as a topical ectoparasiticide on
cattle of all ages including lactating cows, for the control of nuisance and biting flies (Haematobia
spp., Stomoxys spp., Musca spp., hydrotea spp., Morellia spp.) and sucking and biting lice (Damalinia
bovis, Linognathus vituli).
Alphacypermethrin is a non-systemic pyrethroid insecticide that has been incorporated into an oily base,
"ready to use" Pour-On formulation to be applied as a single 10 ml low volume dose along the mid-line of the animal.
Administration of the product is facilitated by means of dispenser packs with internal calibrated chamber
capable of measuring 10ml or using an applicator gun with a 1 litre capacity collapsible pack.
Flectron is a sustained release formulation of cypermethrin presented as a PVC ear tag for beef and dairy
cattle. The tags are heptagonal, straw coloured and impregnated with a nominal 8.5% w/w cypermethrin, a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide.
Studies have shown that flies are implicated in the transmission of diseases such as
pink eyet, caused by the bacterium Moraxella bovis, and summer mastitis, caused
by the bacterium Corynebacterium pyogenes. They also lower the efficiency of
feeding, and thus of milk and beef production, by disturbing grazing cattle. Flies
are normally troublesome during the warmer, more humid months of the year.
The Flectron ear tag is attached to the front of the animal's ear. When used as directed, provide protection
for up to five months and can significantly reduce the fly burden for the whole of a normal season.
Antimicrobials
Duphamox® is the brandname of injectable antimicrobials with amoxycilline as active
ingredient. Fort Dodge has short action and long action formulations of amoxycilline. Amoxycilline is a broad
spectrum bactericidal antibiotic with in vitro activity against a wide range of Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria.
Duphapen® is the brandname of injectable antimicrobials with as active ingredient penicilline.
Fort Dodge has short action and long action formulations of penicilline. Penicilline is indicated in the treatment of
infections caused by, or associated with, organisms sensitive to this ingredient.
Duphacyclin® is the brandname of injectable antimicrobials with as active
ingredient oxytetracycline. Fort Dodge has short action and long action formulations of oxytetracycline.
Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic with in vitro activity against a wide range of Gram
positive and Gram negative bacteria.
Anti-inflammatories
Meflosyl® 5% injection is a sterile aqueous solution containing flunixin meglumine. Flunixin meglumine is a potent non-steroidal and non-narcotic analgesic agent possessing anti-inflammatory anti-endotoxic and antipyretic properties.
Rehydration
Effydral®/Efferhydran® corrects de-hydration, electrolyte loss and metabolic acidosis, particularly when these disturbances arise are a consequence of diarrhea. Effydral®/Efferhydran® is an effervescent tablet, individually packed in aluminum containers, for the treatment of the effects of diarrhea in calves. The addition of one Effydral®/Efferhydran® to one liter water produces ready-to-use isotonic, oral re-hydration solution.
